CROWN COURT

PLACES OF SITTING OF THE CROWN COURT AND DATES FOR TAKING PLEAS AND COMMENCEMENT OF TRIALS DURING 2013/2014

BELFAST CIRCUIT

The Crown Court shall sit continuously at Laganside Courts, 45 Oxford Street, Belfast for taking pleas and conducting trials from Tuesday 27th August 2013 to Friday 22nd August 2014 and thereafter at Laganside Courts as aforesaid and as required at the Royal Courts of Justice, Chichester Street, Belfast and the Old Townhall Buildings, 81-91 Victoria Street, Belfast during sittings of the High Court, in accordance with such directions as may be given by the Lord Chief Justice and shall sit on such other days as the Lord Chief Justice may direct or approve.

Jurors in each panel for the Crown Court sitting for the County Court Division of Belfast shall commence service at Laganside Courts on the following dates:-

The Crown Court shall sit at the places listed in column 1 of the Schedule attached to these directions and dates for the commencement of trials at each place shall be the dates specified in column 2 save that a judge may direct a sitting of the Crown Court in any County Court Division on such other day as he may deem necessary for taking pleas and conducting trials.

Divorce Petitions, Family Care Centre Applications and Appeals, Interlocutory Applications, Minor’s Petitions, Minor’s Payments Out of Court, Disputed Small Claims, Defended Civil Bills, Adoptions, Ancillary Relief Applications, Ejectment and Hire Purchase Civil Bills and any other such miscellaneous applications to the Court.   

NOTES:

1.  Crown Court arraignments shall be listed on such days as the Crown Court Judge and Chief Clerk may fix.

2.  The District Judge’s Civil Bill Review Callover shall be listed on such days and at such venues as the Chief Clerk shall fix.

Payments Into Court by a defendant under Order 21 of the County Court Rules (Northern Ireland) 1981 or, by a Respondent under Rule 4 of the County Court (Criminal Damage Compensation) Rules (Northern Ireland) 1983 or, under Rule 5 of the County Court (Criminal Injury to the Person) Rules (Northern Ireland) 1988 shall be made by lodging the desired sum with three copies of the lodgment documentation in the Bank of Ireland, Belfast City Branch, 4-8 High Street, Belfast, BT1 2BA . Cheques should be payable to “Accountant General”.

 SOUTHERN CIRCUIT

Divorce Petitions, Interlocutory Applications, Minor’s Petitions, Minor’s Payments Out of Court and any other such miscellaneous applications to the Court.  

NOTES:

1.  Crown Court arraignments shall be listed on such days and at such venues as the Crown Court Judge and Chief Clerk may fix.

2.  The County Court Judge and/or District Judge’s Civil Bill Review Callovers shall be listed on such days as the Chief Clerk shall fix.

3.  Crown Court trials may be heard at Omagh, Enniskillen, or Dungannon at the direction of the Crown Court Judge.

4.  Small Claim hearings by the District Judge at Omagh, Strabane, Enniskillen and Dungannon will be heard at 10:30am on such days as the Chief Clerk shall fix.  Small Claims are processed at Enniskillen Courthouse.

5.  Criminal Injury/Criminal Damage Appeals for the Division of Fermanagh & Tyrone will be heard at Omagh courthouse on Tuesday 8 October 2013, Tuesday 10 December 2013, Tuesday 11 February 2014 & Wednesday 30 April 2014. Criminal Damage/Injury Appeals are processed at Omagh Courthouse.

6.  Undefended Divorce Petitions and all applications relating thereto are processed at Dungannon Courthouse and shall be heard on such days as the Chief Clerk shall fix.

7.  The Judge may appoint other days for Adoption hearings.

8.  Crown applications, arraignments and Civil business may be listed weeks commencing Tuesday 27 August 2013, as the County Court Judge and Chief Clerk may fix.

Payments Into Court by a defendant under Order 21 of the County Court Rules (Northern Ireland) 1981 or, by a Respondent under Rule 4 of the County Court (Criminal Damage Compensation) Rules (Northern Ireland) 1983 or, under Rule 5 of the County Court (Criminal Injury to the Person) Rules (Northern Ireland) 1988 shall be made by lodging the desired sum with three copies of the lodgment documentation in the Bank of Ireland, Belfast City Branch, 4-8 High Street, Belfast, BT1 2BA . Cheques should be payable to “Accountant General”.

* This sitting is only for Appeals, from any Petty Sessions District within the County Court Division, where the appellant is in custody or where the appeal is urgent.
