CROWN COURT

PLACES OF SITTING OF THE CROWN COURT AND DATES FOR TAKING PLEAS AND COMMENCEMENT OF TRIALS DURING 2012/2013

 

 

BELFAST CIRCUIT

 

The Crown Court shall sit continuously at Laganside Courts, 45 Oxford Street, Belfast for taking pleas and conducting trials from Tuesday 28th August 2012 to Tuesday 4th September 2012 and thereafter at Laganside Courts as aforesaid and as required at the Royal Courts of Justice, Chichester Street, Belfast and the Old Townhall Building, 81-91 Victoria Street, Belfast during sittings of the High Court, in accordance with such directions as may be given by the Lord Chief Justice and shall sit on such other days as the Lord Chief Justice may direct or approve.

 

Jurors in each panel for the Crown Court sitting for the County Court Division of Belfast shall commence service at Laganside Courts on the following dates:-

Divorce Petitions, Family Care Centre Applications and Appeals, Interlocutory Applications, Minor’s Petitions, Minor’s Payments Out of Court, Disputed Small Claims, Defended Civil Bills, Adoptions, Ancillary Relief Applications, Ejectment and Hire Purchase Civil Bills and any other such miscellaneous applications to the Court.

1.        Crown Court arraignments shall be listed on such days as the Crown Court Judge and Chief Clerk may fix.

2.        The District Judge’s Civil Bill Review Callover shall be listed on such days and at such venues as the Chief Clerk shall fix.

 

Payments Into Court by a defendant under Order 21 of the County Court Rules (Northern Ireland) 1981 or, by a Respondent under Rule 4 of the County Court (Criminal Damage Compensation) Rules (Northern Ireland) 1983 or, under Rule 5 of the County Court (Criminal Injury to the Person) Rules (Northern Ireland) 1988 shall be made by lodging the desired sum with three copies of the lodgement documentation in the Bank of Ireland, 54 Donegall Place, Belfast, either to the credit of the ‘Civil Bill Account’ or the Criminal Injuries Account’ as the case may be.

 

# Civil business includes Family Care Centre Applications and Appeals, Defended Civil Bills, Committal Civil Bills, Criminal Injury and Criminal Damage Appeals, Equity Petitions, Adoptions, Disputed Small Claims, Ancillary Relief Applications and Ejectment and Hire Purchase Civil Bills.

6.       Undefended Divorce Petitions and all petitions relating thereto are processed at Coleraine and Ballymena Courthouse and shall be heard on such days and venues as the Chief Clerk shall fix. 

7.       Crown  (including arraignments) and Civil business may be listed weeks commencing Monday 20 August 2012 and week commencing Tuesday 28 August 2012,  as the County Court Judge and Chief Clerk may fix.

Divorce Petitions, Interlocutory Applications, Minor’s Petitions, Minor’s Payments Out of Court and any other such miscellaneous applications to the Court.  

 

NOTES:

 

1.        Crown Court arraignments shall be listed on such days and at such venues as the Crown Court Judge and Chief Clerk may fix.

2.        The District Judge’s Civil Bill Review Callover shall be listed on such days as the Chief Clerk shall fix.

3.        Crown Court trials may be heard at Omagh, Enniskillen, or Dungannon at the direction of the Crown Court Judge.

4.        Small Claim hearings by the District Judge at Omagh, Strabane, Enniskillen and Dungannon will be heard at 10:30am on such days as the Chief Clerk shall fix.  Small Claims are processed at Enniskillen Courthouse.

5.        Criminal Injury/Criminal Damage Appeals for the Division of Fermanagh & Tyrone will be heard at Omagh Courthouse on Tuesday 11 September 2012, Tuesday 8 January 2013, & Wednesday 10 April 2013. Criminal Damage/Injury Appeals are processed at Omagh Courthouse.

6.        Undefended Divorce Petitions and all applications relating thereto are processed at Dungannon Courthouse and shall be heard on such days as the Chief Clerk shall fix.

7.        The Judge may appoint other days for Adoption hearings.

 

Payments Into Court by a defendant under Order 21 of the County Court Rules (Northern Ireland) 1981 or, by a Respondent under Rule 4 of the County Court (Criminal Damage Compensation) Rules (Northern Ireland) 1983 or, under Rule 5 of the County Court (Criminal Injury to the Person)

 Rules (Northern Ireland) 1988 shall be made by lodging the desired sum with three copies of the lodgment documentation in the Bank of Ireland, 54 Donegall Place, Belfast, either to the credit of the ‘Civil Bill Account’ or the Criminal Injuries Account’ as the case may be.

 

* This sitting is only for Appeals, from any Petty Sessions District within the County Court Division, where the appellant is in custody or where the appeal is urgent.
