About the Review
On 13 September 2010 Justice Minister David Ford announced a review of legal aid provision in Northern Ireland with a view to developing proposals on how best to help people secure access to justice while achieving value for money in the use of public funds. The review reported in September 2011 and the Minister issued the report for public consultation on 13th September 2011. The Minister has invited responses by 13th December 2011.

The review team was led by Jim Daniell, a former civil servant, who stood down as Chairman of the Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission in order to take forward this work. The other members of the team were Angela Ritchie and Catherine McClements.
