County Court Rules Committee Publication Scheme

Role of the County Court Rules Committee

The County Court Rules Committee is an executive statutory body, established under the County Courts (Northern Ireland) Order 1980 ("the 1980 Order").

The County Court Rules Committee can make rules with respect to all matters or procedure or practice, or matters relating to or concerning the effect of operation in law of any civil proceedings within the jurisdiction of the county courts.

The County Court Rules Committee, in order to make rules, must submit them to the Lord Chancellor, who will after consultation with the Lord Chief Justice, allow or disallow them.

Article 46 of the 1980 Order sets out the statutory composition of The County Court Rules Committee and specifies who shall be Secretary to the Committee.
