Role of the Family Proceedings Rules Committee

The Family Proceedings Court Rules Committee is an executive statutory body, established under the Family Law (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 ("the 1993 Order").

The Family Proceedings Court Rules Committee, under Article 12A of the 1993 Order, has functions conferred on it in relation to the making of rules of court for the purpose of family proceedings.

The Family Proceedings Court Rules Committee, in order to make rules, must submit them to the Lord Chancellor for him to allow or disallow.

Schedule 2 of the 1993 Order sets out the statutory composition of the Family Proceedings Court Rules Committee and specifies who shall be Secretary to the Committee.
