APPLICATIONS BY FAX FOR FIRST ADJOURNMENTS BY CONSENT BEFORE THE CHANCERY JUDGE OR MASTER

1. This Direction replaces and revokes Practice Direction 1995 No 1.
2. Applications by consent of all parties for the adjournment of any matter (other than a matter which has been given a specific appointment by the Judge or the Master) on the first occasion it is listed for hearing may be considered if made by fax or “hand”.
3. Such applications may only be made by each solicitor on record for each party (or where there is no solicitor on record, each litigant in person) sending a message by fax or hand (not via a postal service) indicating this consent.
4. Each such message must be received in the Chancery Office no later than 12 noon on the last day before the return date.
5. The result of the application will be communicated by fax or other means. If the application has not been successful it may be renewed before the Court at the return date and time.
6. No further application by this method will be accepted other than where the Court has indicated otherwise.
7. The fax number is 02890 239932. Every application by fax or hand must give a fax number for reply.
