Children Order Bulletin (Provisional Statistics) January - March 2011

Figures published today by the NI Courts and Tribunals Service in the quarterly Children Order Bulletin outline the County Court business received and dealt with from the quarter January to March 2011.

During the quarter;

• There were 1,320 applications entered during the period
• There were 1,236 applications dealt with during the period
• There were 2,589 orders made between January and March 2011
• The average waiting time in weeks from lodgement to disposal for public law cases was 31 weeks
• The average waiting time in weeks between lodgement to disposal for private law cases was 25 weeks

Notes for editors

• There were 1,320 applications (Fig 1) entered during the period, of which:
  161 = Public
  1,159 = Private

• There were 192 cases transferred during the period with 202 reasons for transfer (Fig 2).

• There were 1,527 children involved in Children Order Proceedings during the period, of which 40% were under the age of five

Waiting times do not exclude recess.
