NEWS RELEASE
01 October 2009

Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland

With the establishment of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom on 1 October, Northern Ireland sees the renaming of the Supreme Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland as the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland.

The changes are being made under the Constitutional Reform Act 2005.

Mandy Kilpatrick Head of Court Operations said:

“It will be business as usual in the courts.  The change of name should not have any impact upon the public’s interaction with the courts.”

She added:

“We aim to ensure that the change of name is as seamless and as unobtrusive as possible.”
