High Court Statistics (Provisional Statistics)
January – March 2012

During the quarter;

• There were 1,809 cases received into the Chancery division.
• There were 1,547 writs received in Queen’s Bench
• There were 66 applications for leave to apply for Judicial Review
• There were 1,444 grants issued during the quarter in the probate office

Notes for Editors;

• During January to February 2012, there were 1,547 writs received in Queen’s Bench (1,835 in the same period in 2011).  Of these, 54% were negligence cases (60% in the same period in 2011).

• During January to March 2012 there were 1,809 cases received into the Chancery division (1,918 in the same period in 2011).  In total, 54% were chancery cases, 35% were bankruptcy cases and 11% were companies’ cases.  There were 1,726 cases disposed of during the reporting period.
• There were 595 sitting days in the High Court during the quarter (Fig 2).
