Mark of Excellence LogoEJO Celebrates becoming an EFQM Mark of Excellence Award Winner

On building on continued improvements in service delivery the Enforcement of Judgments Office was awarded the prestigious Mark of Excellence Award at the Northern Ireland Quality Awards ceremony on the 31 January 2008.  This is organised by the Centre for Competitiveness and is the premier business event in Northern Ireland which recognises organisations both in the public and private sector that have demonstrated excellence in their overall business performance.  This year’s Gala Event took place in the Ramada Hotel in Belfast and was the first major business event held in Northern Ireland in 2008.

Having achieved a Bronze award in 2003 and a Gold award in 2005 (click here for more details), the EJO and the Taxing Office has continued to improve by anchoring the change process into their day to day work. The team of Assessors who inspected them and considered their written submission were convinced that there was very substantial evidence of continuous improvement in a number of key areas including:

  • significantly improved business performance
  • developing its people
  • reviewing and improving its processes through attaining ISO 9000:2001 Standard  - click here for more details
  • developing and enhancing communication channels through education and provision of information
  • promoting internal and external partnerships
  • involvement of top management
  • promoting its involvement in society both environmentally and socially
  • and most importantly continuing to deliver an improving service to customers

This is an outstanding achievement for a public sector organisation, particularly considering the difficult and emotive nature of their work.
